This page is updated monthly. Homework is updated whenever homework
is assigned. I send out email updates regularly. All yearlong
assignments (ie. Reading Genre Log/Reading Reflections) are posted
in "Events".
Are you using your WoW's? If
you don't use them, you will lose them (and that's not good):
perturbed, arduous, myriad, plethora, pedestrian, (used as an adj),
superfluous, flaunt, tenacious, altruistic, intrepid, insatiable,
pessimist, optimist, alleviate, lethargic, introver/extrovert,
agile, benevolent/malevolent, verbatim, alacrity...
This month in LA and SS, we
will be learning about China's Cultural Revolution through the
memoir, Red Scarf Girl. This book will help us better
understand the connection between our study of ancient China and
with a modern-day event. The students will be taking these books
home and will need to always have them in class.
In Ex-Core we are focusing on independent reading as eleven genres
are required for this trimester's reading genre log.
If you are interested in the Summer Voice Program which provides
community service opportunties, I have created a link to their
website on my Links page under SVP.
What are YOU reading? I just
read Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan and am anticipating
the next book in this series. I am reading a mystery of ancient
Ireland as well as a collection of ghostly short stories by Neil
Gaiman, who also wrote Coraline. Plus, I just started the
final book in James Dashener's grim trilogy, The Death
Cure.
